Harmony Center and FPHSA partnered together to host a LEAP Pep Rally for St. Helena students (St. Helena College and Career Academy and St. Helena Arts and Technology Academy) to encourage to kids to do their best on testing and say no to drugs and vaping. Nami and Humana also partners and tabled the event providing an array of resources. St. Tammany’s Nami Executive Director Nick Richard brought therapy dog, River, to help relieve stress and help the kids cope during testing week. FPHSA disseminated educational information about substance use, vaping, gambling and suicide along with promotional items such as notebooks, water bottles, bracelets, pens, pencils, keychains,etc. FPHSA also brought two simulation games: vaping breath battle and fatal vision googles/driving. Harmony Center spoke about real life experiences, dangers of vaping, risks/protective factors of vaping/alcohol/drugs and also provided crawfish, pizza and chicken and Djs for music. The band, cheerleaders, dance and flag team performed.
