FPHSA hosted a two day ASIST workshop in June teaching the skills to intervene when someone is having thoughts of suicide and getting them to safety.
The event was held at the North Oaks Diagnostic Center in Hammond, LA and had 24 participants.
One of the reasons why this workshop works so well is because of the connections that are made by getting community resources together. Staff from DCFS, Choices, North Oaks, and Ministry leaders were present at this event. Our agency in the past has worked with some of these resources and hopefully this workshop will make it easier not only to prevent suicide but for our agency to build stronger connections and collaborations with other agencies and organizations.
