New Mental Health Screening and Assessment Process to Keep People Out of Jail

Members of the Jail Diversion Committee along with representatives from the Coroner’s Office , the District Attorney’s Office, STPSO Corrections staff and jail medical personnel met this week to discuss the new mental health screening and assessment process and how it can be developed further to assist individuals in getting the help and services they need and keep them out of jail.

On Friday, June 23, 2017, at the Florida Parishes Human Services Authority (FPHSA) Governing Board Meeting, Attorney Lindon Bennett Magee, CASHE COUDRAIN & SANDAGE, issued the Oath of Office and conducted the swearing-in ceremony for appointing Covington Chief of Police, Timothy Lentz, to serve on the FPHSA Governing Board representing St. Tammany Parish and reappointing Danielle Keys to serve a consecutive officer term as Vice Chair to the FPHSA Governing Board. Ms. Keys represents Washington Parish.

Raising Mental Health Awareness

FPHSA joined the movement to raise awareness of mental illness and raise funds for the mission to help individuals and families by participating in the inaugural NAMIWalks St. Tammany event at the Mandeville Lakefront on Saturday, May 13th.
